Stop Eating Dogs – A Call to End Cruelty in China, Philippines, Vietnam, and Thailand

Dogs are not food. They are companions, friends, and protectors. Around the world, millions of people love and care for their dogs as members of their family. Sadly, in some Asian countries like China, the Philippines, Vietnam, and Thailand, dogs are still being killed and eaten. This practice is not only disgusting and inhumane—it is against what the true God teaches us.

Dogs Are Not Meant to Be Eaten

God created every animal for a purpose. Dogs were never created to be food for humans. In the Bible, dogs are known to be protectors, workers, and loyal friends.

Proverbs 12:10 (NIV) says:

“The righteous care for the needs of their animals, but the kindest acts of the wicked are cruel.”

God shows us through His Word that animals should be treated with kindness and care. Eating dogs is an act of cruelty, and it goes against God’s design. Dogs were not given to us to kill and eat—they were given to us for companionship, to protect our homes, help people with disabilities, and even comfort the lonely.

Worshiping False Gods Leads to Blindness

Many people in these countries worship idols and man-made gods. These are statues made of wood, stone, gold, or other materials. People bow to them, pray to them, and believe that they have power. But they are not God. They cannot see, hear, or speak. The Bible warns us about this.

Psalm 115:4-8 (NIV) says:

“But their idols are silver and gold, made by human hands. They have mouths, but cannot speak, eyes, but cannot see… Those who make them will be like them, and so will all who trust in them.”

When people turn away from the one true God, they open the door for the devil to deceive them. They become blind to truth and compassion. They can no longer see the evil in their actions, like killing and eating dogs. The devil enjoys when people worship idols because it takes their eyes off the living God and leads them into darkness and confusion.

2 Corinthians 4:4 (NLT) says:

“Satan, who is the god of this world, has blinded the minds of those who don’t believe.”

This is why it is important to share the truth. Jesus is the way, the truth, and the life. He brings light into the darkest places and opens the eyes of those who are lost.

Why Are These Countries Still in Poverty?

Some of the countries that allow the dog meat trade are also among the poorest. Poverty, corruption, and suffering are common in many parts of China, the Philippines, Vietnam, and Thailand. It’s not a coincidence.

Deuteronomy 28 speaks about blessings for obedience and curses for disobedience. When nations follow God’s laws, they are blessed. When they turn away from God and His commandments, they suffer.

Deuteronomy 28:15 (NLT) says:

“But if you refuse to listen to the Lord your God and do not obey all the commands and decrees I am giving you today, all these curses will come and overwhelm you.”

God does not bless cruelty. He will not bless a nation that allows dogs to be tortured, killed, and eaten in the name of culture or tradition. These are not godly traditions. They are sinful and demonic.

When a country worships idols and disobeys God’s Word, it is opening itself up to poverty, disease, natural disasters, and pain. The devil comes to steal, kill, and destroy (John 10:10), and that includes the peace and prosperity of entire nations.

God's True Plan for Animals and People

God gave us dominion over animals, but not to abuse them. Dominion means responsibility, not cruelty.

Genesis 1:28 (NIV) says:

“God blessed them and said to them, ‘Be fruitful and increase in number; fill the earth and subdue it. Rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky and over every living creature that moves on the ground.’”

God wants us to care for the animals, not torture them. The dog meat trade is full of horror—dogs are stolen, beaten, starved, and sometimes boiled alive. It is heartbreaking and evil.

Romans 8:22 reminds us:

“We know that the whole creation has been groaning as in the pains of childbirth right up to the present time.”

Even animals are crying out for help. The pain and suffering they go through is felt by all creation. God hears it, and He will bring justice.

A Message to the People

If you live in one of these countries or know people who support the dog meat trade, speak up. Say something. Stand up for what is right.

Acts 17:30 (NIV) says:

“In the past God overlooked such ignorance, but now he commands all people everywhere to repent.”

It is not too late. You can repent. You can turn away from idol worship and cruelty and come to the true God—the God of the Bible, the God who sent His Son Jesus to die for your sins.

When you accept the truth, your eyes will open. You will see that eating dogs is not normal. It is not holy. It is not kind. It is a sin.

A Call to Action

Let us pray for the end of dog cruelty in Asia. Let us pray for the spiritual blindness to be removed and for the true Gospel to reach every town, every village, and every city. God’s love is for everyone—but we must turn to Him and live by His Word.

Isaiah 1:17 (NIV) says:

“Learn to do right; seek justice. Defend the oppressed. Take up the cause of the fatherless; plead the case of the widow.”

Today, we take up the cause of the voiceless—the dogs who are suffering. Let us be their voice. Let us be the light in the darkness.

God is not pleased with cruelty. He did not design dogs to be food. He designed them to be loved. The time to stop is now.

Let us pray:

“Father God, open the eyes of the blind. Heal the hearts that have grown cold. Remove idol worship from these nations. Shine Your light into the darkest places. Help us to see animals as You see them—with love and compassion. Help us end the dog meat trade forever. In Jesus’ name, Amen.”
