I can’t stand scrolling through X, formerly known as Twitter. Sometimes, it feels like the world has become a place filled with so much cruelty, and it’s hard to ignore. I often find myself wanting to reach through the screen and slap some sense into the people responsible for the terrible things I see. It’s heartbreaking to watch the abuse that animals, especially dogs and cats, suffer all over the world. In some countries like China, India, and Morocco, the way people treat these animals is beyond cruel. It’s painful to witness, and it’s even harder to understand how anyone could have so little compassion.
Animals are living beings, just like us. They feel pain, fear, and sadness. Yet, every day, all around the world, we see stories of them being mistreated, tortured, and neglected. The images I see on social media make me feel helpless. It’s as if animals are seen as things—objects that can be used, abused, and thrown away without a second thought. People who hurt animals like this are often so desensitized to their suffering that they don’t even care to stop.
What’s even worse is that some of these practices are deeply rooted in culture. In certain parts of the world, animals like dogs and cats are still abused in the name of tradition or food. In places like China, there are festivals where dogs are killed in brutal ways, often in front of other animals or people. The cruelty that these animals face is unimaginable. In India and Morocco, stray dogs are sometimes poisoned, beaten, or left to suffer on the streets with no care or help in sight. The sad part is that this happens in broad daylight, and people just walk by as if nothing is wrong.
It’s hard to understand how anyone could think this is acceptable. God created animals to live freely, not to be treated like they don’t matter. They have their own lives, their own needs, and they deserve to be treated with kindness and respect. The way some people treat them goes against everything that is decent and humane. It is not right to abuse, exploit, or eat animals simply because we feel like we can. They should not be seen as objects to be used for our own benefit or entertainment.
What we need is a global change in the way we think about animals. We need to raise awareness, educate people, and call for stronger laws to protect them. No living creature deserves to suffer in silence. We all have a responsibility to speak up and do what we can to help. Whether it’s by supporting animal rights organizations, sharing information online, or simply showing kindness to the animals we come across in our daily lives, every small action counts.
The cruelty we see in the world is not something that should be ignored. It’s not enough to just feel sad about it; we need to take action. If we continue to let this happen, we are allowing a world where cruelty becomes the norm, and that’s something none of us should ever accept. It’s time for change. Animals deserve our protection, our love, and our respect.
