God is the source of everything we have. He gives us the air we breathe, the food we eat, the clothes we wear, and the home that shelters us. Every heartbeat and every sunrise is a reminder of His mercy and grace. When we stop to thank Him, we are recognizing that all good things come from Him. The Bible tells us in James 1:17, “Every good and perfect gift is from above.” That means the food on our table, the laughter of our family, and the warmth of our homes are all blessings from God.
Today, as families and friends gather around the table, let us not forget to thank God first. Before the turkey or the ham is served, before the desserts are shared, take a moment to bow your head and pray. Thank Him for the hands that prepared the meal, for the loved ones who are with you, and for His protection and provision throughout the year. Even if life has been hard, there is always something to be thankful for—because God is still faithful and good.
Thanksgiving is also a time to remember others. Some people may not have family to celebrate with or may be going through tough times. If you can, reach out and share your blessings. A simple act of kindness—like giving food to a neighbor or visiting someone who is alone—can show God’s love in a powerful way. Gratitude grows when we share it.
When we give thanks, we invite peace and joy into our hearts. Worry and fear begin to fade because we start to see how much God has done for us. Philippians 4:6-7 reminds us to “not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.” Thanksgiving isn’t only a holiday—it’s an attitude of the heart that we should carry every day.
So as you enjoy your Thanksgiving meal—whether it’s turkey, ham, or your favorite dish—remember the real reason for the celebration. Give thanks to God for life, for family, for health, and for His love that never fails. Let your heart be full of gratitude today and always.
Happy Thanksgiving, everybody! May your home be filled with laughter, love, and the presence of God. May He bless your table, your family, and your future. Always remember that true thanksgiving begins with giving thanks to the One who gives you life, your food, and the joy of being together with those you love.
