It’s Time to Read the Bible: Finding Hope and Healing for America Through God’s Wor

The Bible sitting on your dresser, inside your closet, or hidden under a pile of other books is not just another book. It is the Word of God, full of truth, wisdom, and comfort for every season of life. Sadly, many of us have allowed it to collect dust. We open our phones before we open the Bible. We scroll through social media more than we search the Scriptures. But maybe now is the time to stop and ask ourselves — what has all this noise really brought us?

Our country, the United States of America, is in great need of healing. When I scroll through social media, I see so much chaos and anger. People are arguing, fighting, and hurting each other with words and actions. It seems like cruelty, abuse, and neglect have become normal. Some people protest without even knowing what they are protesting for. Others take their beliefs and opinions from social media influencers or toxic news channels, not from truth. It’s heartbreaking to see so much confusion and division.

The truth is, everything that is happening right now has already been written in the Bible. God already told us through His Word what the world would look like when people turn away from Him. King Solomon said in Ecclesiastes 1:9 (NIV), “What has been will be again, what has been done will be done again; there is nothing new under the sun.” This means that all the chaos, hate, and pride we see today are not new. They have happened before in different forms, and the root cause is always the same — people have forgotten God.

The Bible is not an old book with outdated ideas. It is living and powerful. Hebrews 4:12 (NIV) says, “For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword.” That means the Bible still speaks to us today. It gives direction when we are lost, comfort when we are hurting, and correction when we are wrong. It teaches us how to live with love, humility, and faith in a world that often promotes selfishness and pride.

If we want healing in our nation, we must start by returning to God’s Word. No political leader, celebrity, or social media influencer can fix the brokenness we see. Only God can heal hearts and restore peace. And that begins when each one of us opens our Bible, reads it, and lives by it.

So, dust off that Bible. Open it and read even one chapter a day. Ask God to speak to your heart through His Word. Let His truth guide your thoughts, words, and actions. You will find hope where there was despair, peace where there was worry, and purpose where there was confusion.

As 2 Chronicles 7:14 (NIV) reminds us: “If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.”

It’s time to read the Bible again — for our hearts, for our homes, and for our nation.
