7 Simple Steps to Be Successful in Your Side Hustle (Like I Did with My pawTree Business)

Starting a side hustle can be exciting and fulfilling. As someone who already sells books and journals on Amazon and runs my pawTree business, I’ve learned that success doesn’t happen overnight—but it does come with focus, faith, and consistency. These seven steps have helped me grow my side hustles with purpose and passion, and they can help you too.

Step 1: Know Your “Why”

Before you start or grow any side hustle, ask yourself why you’re doing it. Is it to earn extra income, make a difference, or build long-term freedom? My “why” is helping pets live healthier lives through pawTree and inspiring others through my books and journals. When you have a strong “why,” it gives meaning to your work and keeps you going even when things get tough.

Step 2: Choose Something You Love

Your side hustle should come from your passion. I love animals and believe in holistic, organic pet care, which is why pawTree is a natural fit for me. I also enjoy writing and creating journals that encourage reflection and growth. When you do what you love, your enthusiasm shows—and people are drawn to that genuine energy.

Step 3: Keep Learning and Growing

Even though I already understood business and entrepreneurship, I never stop learning. I continue to study marketing, customer care, and social media strategies to improve my results. Every side hustle requires growth—new tools, new trends, and new ways of connecting with people. The more you invest in learning, the stronger your business becomes.

Step 4: Be Consistent

Consistency builds success. You don’t have to work all day, but you should do something for your business every day. Whether it’s posting about your products, connecting with customers, or organizing your schedule, daily action keeps the momentum going. I make it a point to spend time each day on my pawTree and Amazon businesses. Small, steady steps lead to big progress.

Step 5: Share Your Story

People love hearing real stories, not just sales messages. I often share about my rescued dogs, Bailey and Gracie, and how pawTree products improved their health. I also share why I create journals—to help people find peace, faith, and purpose. Your story connects people to your brand and builds trust. Be authentic and let your passion shine through.

Step 6: Trust God and Stay Positive

In business, there will always be challenges. I’ve learned to pray over every decision and trust that God is guiding my path. Proverbs 16:3 says, “Commit to the Lord whatever you do, and He will establish your plans.” When you put God first, He gives you peace and strength to move forward with confidence, even during slow seasons.

Step 7: Never Give Up

Success takes time and persistence. There were times when sales were slow or I felt tired, but I reminded myself that growth happens step by step. Keep showing up, keep improving, and keep believing in your dream. Every small win is a step closer to bigger success.

Whether you’re selling products online, promoting a brand, or sharing your creative work, success in your side hustle comes from passion, consistency, and faith. Remember, you already have what it takes—just keep moving forward, and watch your efforts multiply in God’s perfect time.
