Religious Freedom Day 2026: Standing Strong in Our Christian Faith

Today, January 16, 2026, is Religious Freedom Day in the United States. The White House, under President Trump, has released a proclamation celebrating the right of every American to practice their faith freely. This day reminds us that America was founded on Christian principles and that religious liberty is a gift we must honor and protect.

President Trump’s message encourages all Americans to stand strong in their faith. It highlights the importance of praying publicly, worshiping God, and living according to His Word. The proclamation acknowledges that religious freedom is not just a law but a blessing that allows believers to follow God openly, without fear or shame.

As Christians, we know that our faith is central to our identity. Jesus Christ gave His life publicly so that we could have eternal life. He was not hidden, and He was not ashamed. Likewise, we are called to live boldly, confessing our faith in God and His Son, Jesus Christ. Religious Freedom Day reminds us that we do not need to hide our beliefs or apologize for following Jesus.

The United States has a rich history of Christian faith. Many of the Founding Fathers believed in God, read the Bible, and understood that human rights come from the Creator. Churches, Christian schools, and faith-based organizations helped shape the nation’s culture, education, and charity. Religious Freedom Day celebrates this heritage and encourages Americans to keep faith at the center of our lives.

The White House also encourages all Americans to pray for our nation. Initiatives like “America Prays” invite citizens to unite in prayer for wisdom, guidance, and blessings for the country. This is a time to thank God for His provision, seek His direction, and honor His role in our lives and in America’s history.

It is important to note that standing for our faith does not mean disrespecting others. As Christians, we worship the one true God, the Creator of heaven and earth, and His Son, Jesus Christ. While other religions exist, we choose to honor God openly. Religious Freedom Day is a reminder that we have the right to do this in public, without fear, just as our forefathers did.

Today, let us celebrate our Christian faith boldly and unapologetically. Let us pray for our families, communities, and leaders. Let us thank God for giving us the freedom to worship Him openly. And let us remember that Jesus gave His life so we could have faith without shame.

Religious Freedom Day is not just a date on the calendar. It is a call to action — to live our faith boldly, honor God in all we do, and teach others about the freedom we enjoy as Christians in America. Today, we stand proud, strong, and unashamed of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
