I don’t like watching news channels like CNN or MSNBC. They feel so toxic to me. Every time I turn on the TV, it seems like all they do is hate on President Trump. They blame him for almost everything, and it never feels balanced. Watching that kind of news makes me feel stressed and angry.
But the more I think about it, I realize it’s not really the anchors’ fault. They are just following orders. Their bosses want them to report things a certain way, and if they don’t, they could lose their jobs. So these anchors are basically puppets, marching to the beat of their company’s drum.
This makes me wonder: why would anyone want to live like that? Why would you give up your freedom to think for yourself, just because you’re afraid of losing a paycheck? This is not how God intended us to live. He didn’t create us to be puppets, repeating what others tell us to say or think.
The Bible teaches us about living freely and wisely. In Galatians 5:1, it says, “It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery.” We are called to live in freedom, not fear. Living in fear of losing a job or trying to please every person around us is like wearing a yoke we were never meant to carry.
I choose not to let toxic news control my mind or my emotions. I don’t want to be influenced by fear, gossip, or hatred. Instead, I focus on what is true, honorable, and pure. Philippians 4:8 reminds us: “Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—think about such things.”
Life is too short to live like a puppet, repeating what someone else wants you to say or believe. God gave us minds to think, hearts to love, and voices to speak truth. Choosing what to watch, read, and listen to is part of living that freedom.
So I don’t watch the news channels that spread negativity. I don’t let fear or job pressures make me a puppet. I want to live a life of freedom, truth, and peace in Christ. You can too. God wants you to stand firm, think for yourself, and live without fear.
Stop letting toxic media steal your peace. Choose freedom, choose truth, and live the life God intended for you.
