I was reading a newspaper and watching television when I saw another story about illegal immigrants fighting and even shooting at ICE agents. It made me sad and angry at the same time. Let’s be clear — if you come to the United States illegally, you are breaking the law. ICE agents have the right to arrest you and deport you because that is their job. They are not your enemies. They are simply doing what they are trained and paid to do — protect the country’s borders and enforce immigration laws.
Many people around the world dream of coming to America. They work hard, save money, and wait for years to get a visa or citizenship. They follow the rules because they respect the law and the people of this country. But when someone crosses the border illegally, it is unfair to those who did everything the right way.
Think of it like your own home. Would you want a stranger breaking into your house, eating your food, sleeping in your bed, and using everything you worked hard for — all without asking your permission? Of course not. You would feel angry and unsafe. That is how a country feels when people come in without following the proper process.
The United States is like a home for its citizens. It welcomes people from all over the world, but there are rules. These rules exist to keep everyone safe and organized. If you ignore those rules and sneak in, you are not respecting the country or the people who live here.
ICE agents are law enforcement officers who make sure these rules are followed. They do not deserve to be attacked, disrespected, or harmed. When someone shoots at them or tries to fight them, it shows a complete lack of respect for the law and for human life. These officers have families too. They put their lives at risk every day to protect the borders and keep order.
If someone wants to live in the United States, there are legal ways to do it. You can apply for a visa, a green card, or even seek asylum if you are escaping danger. But coming here illegally and then getting angry when the law catches up to you is not the right way.
We should remember that following the law is part of respecting the country you wish to live in. It is not about hate or discrimination — it is about order, safety, and fairness. Those who follow the legal process deserve the chance to live the American dream. Those who break the law should face the consequences.
In short, if you come to the United States illegally, expect that ICE agents will do their job. You do not have the right to harm them or fight back. Respect the laws, respect the officers, and respect the country that many people still dream of calling home.
