Many people pray every day. They ask for help, blessings, and protection. But have you ever wondered why some prayers do not get answered? Have you ever thought about why some people stay poor and suffer even when they pray? The answer is simple: many are praying to the wrong god.
In many countries, especially in Asia, people make gods from clay, wood, or stone. They build temples and statues, bow to them, and believe that these man-made idols have power. But the real God, the one who created the heavens and the earth, tells us clearly in the Bible that idols are nothing. They cannot see, hear, or answer prayers.
God Owns Everything
The Bible says in Psalm 24:1 – "The earth is the Lord’s, and everything in it, the world, and all who live in it." This means that everything we see belongs to the real God. The clay, wood, gold, or silver used to make false gods all belong to Him. People take what God created and shape it into statues, then bow to them as if they have power. But how can something made by human hands be greater than the one who created the universe?
Idols Have No Life
The Bible warns us against worshiping idols. In Psalm 115:4-8, it says:
"But their idols are silver and gold, made by human hands. They have mouths, but cannot speak, eyes, but cannot see. They have ears, but cannot hear, noses, but cannot smell. They have hands, but cannot feel, feet, but cannot walk, nor can they utter a sound with their throats. Those who make them will be like them, and so will all who trust in them."
This passage tells us that idols are dead objects. They have no life, no power, and no ability to help anyone. Yet, millions of people trust in them. This is one reason many countries that follow idols are struggling. They are seeking help from something that cannot respond. They need to turn to the living God.
Only One True God
The Bible tells us clearly that there is only one real God. In Isaiah 45:5, He says:
"I am the Lord, and there is no other; apart from me, there is no God."
Jesus also confirmed this in John 14:6:
"I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me."
If we want our prayers answered, if we want real blessings, we must pray to the real God—the God of the Bible. Praying to idols will not help because they are powerless.
The Consequences of Idolatry
Throughout history, nations that turned to idols have suffered. In the Old Testament, God punished Israel whenever they worshiped false gods. In Exodus 20:3-5, God gave this commandment:
"You shall have no other gods before me. You shall not make for yourself an image in the form of anything in heaven above or on the earth beneath or in the waters below. You shall not bow down to them or worship them."
When people ignore this command and worship idols, they separate themselves from God’s blessings. This is why many countries that follow false gods experience poverty, disasters, and struggles. They need to turn to the real God for help.
God Wants a Relationship, Not Religion
The real God does not ask us to build statues or temples for Him. He wants a relationship with us. He wants us to talk to Him through prayer and worship Him in spirit and truth. Jesus said in John 4:24:
"God is spirit, and his worshipers must worship in the Spirit and in truth."
This means that true worship is not about lighting candles, bowing to statues, or repeating memorized prayers. It is about talking to God with a sincere heart, following His Word, and living righteously.
How to Pray to the Real God
If you want to experience the real power of God in your life, follow these simple steps:
Believe in Jesus – Jesus is the only way to God. Accept Him as your Lord and Savior.
Read the Bible – The Bible is God’s Word. It teaches us how to live and how to pray.
Pray in Spirit and Truth – Speak to God from your heart. You do not need special words or rituals.
Turn Away from Idols – If you have any statues or objects that you worship, remove them from your home.
Trust God Alone – Stop depending on lucky charms, rituals, or false beliefs. Put your faith only in the real God.
The Blessings of Praying to the Real God
When you pray to the real God, you will see changes in your life.
God will answer your prayers – "Call to me and I will answer you and tell you great and unsearchable things you do not know." (Jeremiah 33:3)
God will bless your work – "But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well." (Matthew 6:33)
God will give you peace – "Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus." (Philippians 4:6-7)
Make the Right Choice Today
Do not waste your prayers on false gods that cannot hear or help. Pray to the real God, the Creator of heaven and earth. He loves you, He wants to bless you, and He is waiting for you to turn to Him.
If you are ready, say this prayer:
"Father God, I come to You today, asking for forgiveness. I turn away from idols and false gods. I believe in Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior. Help me to follow You and worship You in truth. Thank You for loving me and for the blessings You will give me. In Jesus’ name, Amen."
Start praying to the real God today, and see how your life will change. He is waiting for you!
