When I post on LinkedIn to expose the truth about China eating dogs, LinkedIn deleted it—because they are not ready to see and hear the truth. The problem with our WOKE world is that we’ve grown accustomed to seeing everything wrapped in softness, fluff, and feel-good clouds. The truth rarely gets exposed. And when it finally does, people struggle to believe it—because they’ve been conditioned to accept lies as reality.
In many parts of the world, dogs and cats are beloved family members, bringing joy, loyalty, and companionship. Sadly, in certain regions of China, they face a grim and horrifying fate in the dog and cat meat trade. While not every Chinese citizen participates in or condones this practice, the cruelty inflicted on these animals—especially during events like the Yulin Dog Meat Festival—remains one of the most disturbing animal welfare crises today.
The suffering begins long before the slaughter. Many of these animals are stolen from loving homes or captured as strays. They are jammed into small wire cages, stacked one on top of another, with no room to move. They endure long journeys without food or water, terrified and injured, often lying on top of the bodies of those who have already died.
When they arrive at their final destination, the brutality escalates. In some slaughterhouses and wet markets, dogs and cats are beaten, bludgeoned, or burned alive under the cruel and false belief that fear and pain make the meat taste better. Some are boiled or skinned while still conscious, enduring agonizing minutes of suffering before death finally claims them.
Cats are treated no better. They are shoved into bags or cages, their cries ignored, and their lives treated as worthless. Some are force-fed water to increase their weight before being killed.
The fight to end the torture of dogs and cats in China needs both national reform and global support. Stronger laws, active enforcement, and public education are essential. The world must not turn away simply because this happens far from home. Every voice matters. Public outrage, petitions, and awareness campaigns have already begun to reduce the scale of events like Yulin.
We must remember: compassion knows no borders. The suffering of one dog or cat is the suffering of all. If we stay silent, we are complicit. The time to speak out and act is now—because these animals cannot fight for themselves.
