I was watching the news recently about the election in New York where many women between the ages of 18 and 29 voted for a man named Mamdani as mayor. When a reporter asked some of these young liberal women why they voted for him, their answers were shocking. They said they didn’t really know why—except that “he’s fun” and “he understands young people who like to go clubbing.”
It made me wonder what has happened to our world. Have we really come to a point where young people make important decisions based on popularity and fun instead of wisdom and truth? The Bible reminds us in Proverbs 14:12 (NIV): “There is a way that appears to be right, but in the end it leads to death.” Many young people today are walking a path that seems exciting but is leading them away from God’s purpose.
Today’s generation seems lost. Their moral compass has been replaced by what they see on social media and reality TV. Many young women admire the Kardashians—not for their character or faith—but for their beauty, wealth, and fame. But few remember how that fame started. Kim Kardashian’s rise to fame began with a sex video, and from there, the family built an empire. The world calls it “success,” but it was built on immorality because sex sells.
Sadly, many young women now follow the same pattern. They look up to people who live together without marriage, have children outside of wedlock, and believe that casual relationships are normal. But God calls us to live differently. In 1 Corinthians 6:19–20 (NIV) it says, “Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore, honor God with your bodies.”
When we dress, speak, and behave in ways that honor God, we reflect His light in a dark world. But today, modesty and purity are often mocked. You can see young women walking around wearing clothes that look like nightgowns, revealing more than they should. The culture tells them it’s “empowerment,” but in truth, it’s a form of deception. True empowerment comes from knowing your worth in Christ—not from seeking attention or approval from the world.
The Bible says in Romans 12:2 (NIV): “Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind.” We must stop letting the media shape our values. Instead, we should return to God’s Word, where we find wisdom, peace, and real purpose.
Young women, choose your role models wisely. Look up to people who walk with integrity, humility, and godliness. The world may praise the Kardashians, celebrities, and other desperate housewives of whatever but God honors those who live with purity and truth. Let us not be swayed by what is popular, but stand firm in what is right. Because beauty fades, but a woman who fears the Lord will always be praised (Proverbs 31:30).
