For many years, I followed cultural beliefs that I thought would bring me good fortune and success. In Asian traditions, practices like feng shui are widely accepted as ways to attract wealth, health, and happiness. I believed in these things because everyone around me did. I placed lucky charms in my home, followed strict feng shui rules, and even consulted so-called experts to ensure my house was in the "right" energy alignment. But despite all my efforts, my life was still full of struggles. No matter how hard I worked, money was always short. There was no peace in my heart, only frustration and confusion.
A Life Without Peace
I did everything I could to improve my financial situation. I followed feng shui guidelines, thinking they would bring balance and prosperity. But instead, I faced continuous hardships. It felt like I was stuck in a cycle of bad luck. There were days when I wondered why all my efforts seemed to go to waste. I worked tirelessly, yet I never had enough. I trusted in symbols, charms, and rules, but my problems never went away. Something was missing, and deep inside, I felt lost.
The Turning Point
Then one day, on my birthday, my sister-in-law gave me a book: The Purpose Driven Life by Rick Warren. She told me that this book had changed her life and encouraged me to read it. At first, I was skeptical. But something inside me told me to give it a try. I started reading, and for the first time, I began to see things differently. The book led me to read the Bible, and that was when my life truly changed.
As I read the Bible, I realized that I had been putting my trust in things that were not from God. I had unknowingly been practicing idolatry, something God clearly warns against:
"You shall have no other gods before Me. You shall not make for yourself a carved image or any likeness of anything that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth. You shall not bow down to them nor serve them. For I, the Lord your God, am a jealous God..." – Exodus 20:3-5
This verse struck me hard. I never thought of myself as worshiping other gods, but I suddenly realized that I had put my faith in objects instead of in God. I had unknowingly allowed false beliefs to take control of my life. It was time to make a change.
Cleansing My Home and Heart
One day, I took a trash bag and went through my house. I gathered every feng shui charm, Chinese dragon figurine, and anything that had to do with superstitions. I threw them all in the trash. I removed every trace of those false beliefs from my home. I prayed and asked God for forgiveness for placing my trust in things that were not of Him.
From that moment on, I decided to put my trust only in God. I surrendered everything to Him and asked Him to take control of my life. I felt a great burden lift off my shoulders. There was a new sense of peace in my heart, something I had never felt before.
Blessings and Prosperity Followed
After I got rid of all those items and turned to God, over time or following year, my life began to change. I no longer felt like I was constantly battling bad luck. My finances started improving. Opportunities opened up for me. My mind became clearer, and I felt a strong sense of purpose. Instead of relying on lucky charms, I relied on prayer and faith. I stopped living in fear of bad luck and started living in confidence, knowing that God was in control.
The Bible says:
"But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you." – Matthew 6:33
I realized that as long as I put God first, everything else in my life would fall into place. I no longer needed to follow superstitions to feel secure. I had God's promises, and that was more than enough.
Why Many Asian Countries Struggle
As I reflected on my journey, I began to see a pattern. Many Asian cultures are deeply rooted in idol worship, superstitions, and false beliefs. These beliefs keep people in bondage, preventing them from experiencing the true blessings of God. The Bible clearly warns about the dangers of idolatry:
"The idols of the nations are silver and gold, the work of human hands. They have mouths, but do not speak; they have eyes, but do not see; they have ears, but do not hear, nor is there any breath in their mouths. Those who make them become like them, so do all who trust in them." – Psalm 135:15-18
God wants us to trust in Him alone. When people put their faith in man-made objects instead of in God, they block the blessings that He wants to give them. The poverty in many Asian countries is not because of a lack of resources but because of misplaced faith. When a nation turns away from God, it struggles. But when a nation seeks God, it prospers.
A Life Transformed by God
Looking back, I am so grateful that God opened my eyes. If I had continued in my old ways, I would still be struggling, chasing after luck that never came. But now, I live in peace and abundance, knowing that my blessings come from God, not from objects or rituals.
I encourage everyone who is still trapped in false beliefs to open their hearts to God. Let go of things that do not bring true peace. Turn away from idolatry and superstitions. Trust in God alone, and He will take care of you.
The Bible gives us this beautiful promise:
"For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future." – Jeremiah 29:11
God has a wonderful plan for each of us. But we must be willing to let go of false beliefs and fully surrender to Him. When we do, we will experience true peace, prosperity, and purpose.
I am living proof that when you trust in God, your life will change for the better. If He did it for me, He can do it for you too. Put your faith in Him today, and watch how He transforms your life.
